🎬 Freelance Documentary Editor (Premiere Pro) | Starting May | Remote or SLC-Based
We're looking for a high-end, experienced documentary editor to join our team for a ~6-week contract to help shape a powerful, story-driven 15-minute film. This is a paid trial period with an eye toward evolving into an ongoing collaboration or even a full-time editor role with Brown Barn Studios.

This piece explores the intersection of modern science and ancient spiritual tradition, documenting a program designed to preserve a deep lineage of wisdom while adapting it for today’s world. It’s about regeneration, systems of knowledge, and the future of tradition.
Our films are often centered around science and nonprofit organizational work. Each project is a chance to learn something new and expand our storytelling sensibilities. We’re looking for someone who is curious, collaborative, and eager to grow alongside the work.
🎯 What We’re Looking For
Experienced editor with a strong portfolio of short documentaries or long-form branded content
Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro and collaborative post workflows
Comfort working with proxy/media management, organized sequences, and handoff-ready timelines
A sharp eye for narrative structure, emotional beats, and visual flow
Ability to balance artistic voice with clear, purposeful storytelling
Familiarity with delivering projects that are clean, intuitive, and easy to revisit
Passion for meaningful, mission-driven content
📍 Logistics
Timeline: Contract starting around May 10th
Duration: ~6 weeks, with potential for long-term collaboration
Compensation: $30–$50/hour, based on experience
Type: Freelance contract (hourly), with a path toward a longer-term/full-time role
Location: Remote-friendly. Willingness to work from Salt Lake City is a big plus.
